Hi all! I’m in the process of recording my 6th CD and it is a very special CD for me. I started my career playing Jazz and now I am finally getting back to my roots.
That being said, there will definitely be tinges of all the music I have played throughout the years included but the main vibe will be straight-ahead. I have the honor of having Bill O’Connell, longtime musical director of Dave Valentín, as my producer. The line up of musicians is amazing! I’d love to share but until we are done, I really won’t know exactly who will be recording. I’m including 5 originals and some covers. Bill has also contributed an original. So, God willing the CD should be out before the end of the year. I’m also involved in creating a Jazz school in Cuba with Arturo O’Farrill and his organization, ALJA, the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance. It seems as though other opportunities are coming to me as a producer and event organizer. Very interesting. So, I’m practicing and studying like a fiend for the project so when I record it’s be like a smooth river in the super conscious state! Oh, yes, I also recently became a permanent staff member at the East West School of Music at the Ananda Ashram teaching Jazz and also a class on how to inspire people to pick up their instruments again. Interestingly enough, that class has turned into an energy clearing class for people. It’s all good. This has been a dream of mine since I found the ashram back in Oct. of 2007. It’s truly a magical place and to be part of the staff there is just amazing. So, happy summer to you all. Remember the heat will not last so enjoy it while you can as this moment is all we really have. Peace.
