Greetings my friends. Here’s hoping you are all in the spirit of gratitude as we all move into the holiday season. What helps me through it is of course focusing on my center and in my center is my music. But more important when I wake up in the morning , I am grateful that I am still on the planet and I am physically able to still study and perform . That is always my first blessing. Then I realize that I am still breathing and my body is pretty much behaving! LOL! I know I have to eat good food and exercise as well as maintain my daily ritual of counting my blessings. God knows we all have families that are not perfect but thank God we have the ability to be forgiving and accepting and create our own families of our choosing! That’s what gets me through!
I am getting ready to go to Cuba once again to perform at the International Havana Jazz Festival and this is their 30th year so it is going to be amazing. This year I will be performing with Yasek Manzano and Bobby Carcassés, two of my favorite people on the planet and soooo talented! I am also bringing a group of musicians and dancers with me courtesy of Myriam Castillo who runs the travel agency. If you’re interested for next year, please contact me soon. It’s never too early to plan a visit to Cuba.
Locally I just got a steady gig playing jazz at a yoga center. Go figure! It’s all good. My new CD will be coming out in the spring and I’m really excited about the musicians and the music. It’s all a secret though! I’ll just say that I have Bill O’ Connell, Rufus Reid, Winard Harper, Wycliffe Gordon, Chembo Corniel and Nancy Harms on it.
Ok. I think that’s it for the moment. So be well, breathe, pray , and be happy my friends.
Andrea
